Alum (Class of 2022)
Computer Teacher & Graphics Designer
Shamim Alam was raised in a humble family in Bodhgaya, Gaya Vihar. From a young age, Shamim was deeply passionate about learning, even though financial limitations made it difficult to access quality education. In 2006, he gained admission to the Prajna Vihar School, where he studied from Lower Kindergarten through Class 10. Throughout his academic journey, he consistently ranked first in his classes and graduated in 2022 with excellent test results.
With a solid foundation in all core subjects, Shamim aspired to become a computer engineer. Financial constraints posed challenges to his pursuit of higher education, but he received a scholarship from Prajna Vihar School that enabled him to complete an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia and Animation (ADMA) in New Delhi.
After completing the diploma, Shamim returned to Bodh Gaya and chose to serve the institution that played a pivotal role in his life by working as a Computer Teacher and Office Assistant at the Prajna Vihar School from 2017–2019 and again from 2021–2024. He always considered this role not just a job, but a form of seva—a way to give back to the community by helping students, especially in computer science, English, and mathematics.
Currently, Shamim works as a Senior Graphics Designer at the Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International – India, an NGO focused on the revival of Buddhism in India. He remains dedicated to education, social service, and community development, and strives to support those in need by sharing his skills and knowledge.
